What is NLP?
NLP is the science and methodology for understanding and changing
human behaviour
NLP is the study of your subjective reality, or to put it more simply,
how your brain makes you behave and feel the way you do. Imagine
your brain is like a computer that has been programmed with software
and hardware that you didn’t know about, and no-one has left you
a users guide! NLP is the user guide for your brain.
NLP believes that most of our behavior is learnt, for example you
don’t see small babies with phobias of flying or self esteem issues.
We learn our behaviour from our experiences and the people around
us as we grow up, and this programs our brain to perceive things
and to react to the world in a certain way. NLP allows you to understand
what these programs are, and then reprogram them. because our behaviour
is learnt, we are able to unlearn it!
NLP is concerned with how we do something not the why (that’s for
psychoanalysis).
How does it work?
Very simply:
- Your brain stores all it’s experiences as pictures, sounds and
feelings, if you change how brain recognizes these experiences
you can change how you respond to them.
- Your brain doesn’t know
the difference between what is real and what happens in your head
- Your
imagination is always more powerful than your will power
Everyone has their own view of the world
What can you use it for?
Simply to change the way you feel and therefore behave.
NLP provides us with choice; choice in what we feel, think, do,
and therefore ultimately in what we achieve. It has transformed what
is possible in the ways in which we can communicate, influence, manage
and achieve whatever you really want.
NLP can help if you want to:
- Feel more motivated, more positive, more focused.
- Manage your
emotions - so that you can be influential, more resourceful, proactive,
and in control.
- Increase self esteem, confidence and energy.
- Do whatever you already
do reasonably well, even better
- Feel more positive and spend more
of your life being happy
- Also NLP has techniques to cure phobias
in as little as one hour, phobias that traditional psychotherapy
would take weeks or months to solve.
